Explain AI Clearly
Describe what generative AI can and cannot do in plain language, then connect one person-selected goal to a realistic everyday use.
Teach One Useful Interaction
Model, practice, and check one voice or text interaction using accessible steps, adjustable support, and teach-back or show-me.
Build Guardrails Together
Create a Person-Centered AI Support Plan with information boundaries, red flags, verification, human-help routes, and follow-up.
About the Course
AI can help with stories, trivia, reminders, creative projects, communication practice, and other everyday goals, but only when the person understands the tool and remains involved in the decisions. This self-paced course helps recreational therapists and community-based support professionals teach generative AI in clear language, support one useful interaction, and build guardrails with—not for—an adult with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Learners use fictional cases, embedded practice, and the Person-Centered AI Support Plan. The course emphasizes supported choice, accessible teaching, verification, privacy, human help, and ongoing review. It does not present AI as treatment or as a substitute for relationships, individualized assessment, or professional judgment. All lessons in the curriculum are included with free enrollment; no purchase is required.
