Terms of Use
Effective date: August 4, 2026
These Terms of Use govern access to the Community Practice Institute website, courses, downloads, memberships, and related services. Community Practice Institute is the public-facing education brand of Recreation, Education, and Consultation. In these Terms, "CPI," "we," "us," and "our" refer to that provider.
By creating an account, purchasing or enrolling in a product, or using the site, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the site or purchase a product.
Accounts and eligibility
You are responsible for providing accurate account information, keeping your login credentials secure, and notifying CPI if you believe your account has been accessed without authorization. Accounts and course access are personal and may not be transferred, shared, resold, or used by multiple people unless CPI has expressly authorized an organizational arrangement.
You must have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms or use the site with the authorization and involvement of a parent, guardian, or other legally authorized adult.
Purchases, access, and membership
Prices, taxes, discounts, payment schedules, and included products are shown at checkout and control if they differ from a general website description.
Unless a different term is shown before purchase, an individual course purchase includes 365 days of access beginning on the purchase or enrollment date. Access includes the course materials that CPI identifies as part of that product. A learner may download materials only when a download option is provided.
Membership access, included products, billing frequency, renewal status, and cancellation terms are the terms shown on the membership page and at checkout. Where a membership renews automatically, cancelling stops future renewal charges. Cancellation does not automatically create a refund for an earlier charge unless the Refund and Cancellation Policy or checkout terms say otherwise.
Refunds
Refunds and cancellations are governed by the Refund and Cancellation Policy published on the Learner Policies page. That policy is incorporated into these Terms.
Educational scope and external approval
CPI provides professional education and practical learning materials. Course content is not legal advice, medical advice, psychotherapy, diagnosis, crisis intervention, or a substitute for employer policy, clinical supervision, emergency procedures, reporting requirements, payer rules, or agency-specific requirements.
A course does not provide continuing-education credit, credential-renewal acceptance, licensure-renewal acceptance, regulatory compliance, or external approval unless CPI states that status expressly in writing on the specific product page at the time of enrollment.
Learner responsibilities and privacy boundaries
Learners should apply course content within their role, competence, supervision structure, organizational policy, and applicable requirements. Course examples are fictional unless clearly identified otherwise.
Do not submit real client, participant, patient, learner, staff, agency, incident, confidential, or protected health information in course activities, quizzes, evaluations, discussion spaces, support requests, or other CPI fields. If information is needed to resolve a support issue, provide only the minimum information reasonably necessary.
Intellectual property and permitted use
CPI owns or licenses the website, course videos, narration, text, worksheets, quizzes, graphics, downloads, and other course materials. Subject to these Terms, CPI grants the enrolled learner a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use purchased materials for individual learning during the access period.
You may not reproduce, publish, upload, distribute, sell, sublicense, share account access, publicly display, create a competing course from, remove ownership notices from, or use automated tools to scrape or systematically extract CPI content without written permission. You may use a worksheet in your own professional practice only when the worksheet or course expressly permits that use; you may not redistribute the blank or completed worksheet as a product.
Assessments, certificates, and records
Where a course includes a final assessment, the passing score and retake rules shown in the course apply. A certificate documents completion of CPI's stated course requirements. It does not by itself establish licensure, certification, external approval, continuing-education acceptance, employer acceptance, or legal compliance.
CPI may retain enrollment, progress, completion, assessment, and certificate records for administrative, verification, quality, and legal purposes as described in the Privacy Policy.
Platform and service availability
CPI uses Thinkific and other service providers to host and operate its services. Thinkific is a platform provider and is not a CPI sponsor or endorser. CPI may maintain, update, correct, replace, suspend, or discontinue content or features. We will make reasonable efforts to address access problems, but uninterrupted or error-free service is not guaranteed.
Acceptable use
You may not use the site to violate law, infringe another person's rights, transmit malicious code, disrupt the platform, bypass access controls, impersonate another person, obtain unauthorized course access, or collect information about other users without authorization.
Third-party links and tools
The site may link to third-party websites or tools. Those services have their own terms and privacy practices. A link does not necessarily mean CPI endorses or controls the third party.
General disclaimer
To the extent permitted by applicable law, CPI provides the site and educational materials on an "as available" basis. CPI does not promise uninterrupted access, a particular professional outcome, external approval, or acceptance by an employer, payer, regulator, licensing body, or credentialing organization. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that applicable law does not allow CPI to limit.
Suspension or termination
CPI may restrict or end access for material breach of these Terms, account sharing, unauthorized distribution, fraud, security threats, or unlawful use. When practical, CPI will provide notice and an opportunity to correct a non-urgent breach. Suspension or termination does not limit rights that applicable law requires CPI to preserve.
Changes
CPI may update these Terms. The effective date will be revised when material changes are made. Material changes that affect an existing purchase or recurring membership will be communicated through a reasonable method before they take effect when required.
