Course overview

Deliberate teaching for real community placements

Community supervision requires more than having an intern nearby. This course helps educators create deliberate learning opportunities within changing schedules and real service relationships.

Use a Supported Practice Cycle to agree on a task, show the reasoning, observe performance, debrief and adjust. Practice specific feedback, proportionate responses to concerns and transparent invitations for interns to evaluate supervision.

The course stands alone and centers adult community practice. It separates confidence from demonstrated skill and keeps responsibility for support visible. Program requirements and individual supervisory eligibility remain separate determinations.

For agency internship supervisors, this is educational support alongside required site and academic preparation; it does not replace either.

Who this course is for

CTRSs supervising community recreational therapy internships and other community-placement educators using their own program and professional requirements.

What you will learn

  • Design an orientation and task-specific support agreement for a community placement.
  • Plan a supported practice sequence that separates confidence from demonstrated skill.
  • Give feedback grounded in observed evidence and select a proportionate learning, support or escalation response.

What is included

Six short narrated lessons with complementary readings, six fictional practice activities and worked examples, the Supported Practice Cycle, and a ten-question knowledge check. Passing score: 80%; retakes are available. Feedback is optional.

Allow about one hour for reading, practice and the knowledge check, at your own pace. This is a planning estimate rather than verified continuing-education credit.

Professional scope

This standalone course develops supervision planning, teaching and assessment decisions. It does not confer a supervisor credential, replace university or site requirements, or establish legal, billing or professional eligibility.

The Supported Practice Cycle is an original educational aid, not a validated scale, competency clearance or substitute for site and university procedures. Use fictional examples. Keep identifiable placement information in approved systems.

Learning access and optional certificates

The instructional content is free. Course approval has not yet been verified. Optional certificate purchase and automatic issuance are unavailable while approval is pending. CPI will disclose verified approval scope, requirements, price and availability before any certificate purchase. No continuing-education credit or credential-renewal eligibility is promised.
