A respectful response, followed by useful support

An adult asks a direct question about sex. Practice what you can say next, how to clarify the help wanted, and how to turn a referral into understandable, accessible support.

What you will learn

  • Formulate a calm, context-sensitive first response to an adult's sexual question.
  • Distinguish baseline information and practical support from specialized education, clinical care, or safeguarding.
  • Prepare an accessible referral with appropriate collaboration and follow-up.

Designed for community practice

A standalone course for recreational therapists and community-support practitioners serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. No other CPI course is required. Instructor: Tyler Neimeyer, MS, CTRS.

Learn, practice, and apply

Six captioned videos and complementary readings, six on-page practices with worked examples, the original Sexual Question Response Guide, a ten-question knowledge check with an 80% passing score and retakes, and an optional course evaluation. Learning content is free. Plan approximately 60–75 minutes for videos, readings, practice, and the knowledge check; your pace may vary.

Contraception examples include daily and less frequent methods, IUDs and implants. Practice preparing healthcare questions about a remembering barrier while preserving informed choice and separating pregnancy prevention from STI protection.

Professional scope

Apply your actual role, preparation, supervision, and local requirements. This course does not confer sexual-health credentials, teach sexual techniques, determine capacity or guardian powers, prescribe treatment, establish reporting deadlines, or replace qualified clinical or legal review. Original CPI scripts and the Sexual Question Response Guide are educational aids, not validated protocols or assessments. HIPAA examples apply only in covered contexts. US support examples are labeled; learners elsewhere must verify local emergency, reporting, and support routes. A support hotline does not replace required reporting.

Optional certificates
