Support opportunity with a usable plan

Dating support can become a list of warnings when an adult needs a workable opportunity. Through fictional cases, practice a private account walkthrough, a return-transport plan, a calm response to a money request, and immediate support after an image threat.

What you will learn

  • Identify pressure, privacy and fraud concerns in fictional dating situations without treating all online contact as abuse.
  • Build an accessible, person-directed plan for digital boundaries, a first meeting and a usable way home.
  • Choose an immediate response and support route for money requests, image coercion or repeated unwanted contact.

Designed for community practice

A standalone course for recreational therapists and community-support practitioners serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. No other CPI course is required. Instructor: Tyler Neimeyer, MS, CTRS.

Learn, practice, and apply

Six captioned videos and complementary readings, six on-page practices with worked examples, the original Dating Safety Plan, a ten-question knowledge check with an 80% passing score and retakes, and an optional course evaluation. Learning content is free. Plan approximately 60 minutes for videos, readings, practice, and the knowledge check; your pace may vary.

Professional scope

Education for recreational therapists and community support practitioners working with adults with IDD. Adapt support to the adult, your competence, organizational responsibilities and applicable local requirements. This course does not authorize legal determinations, investigation, device surveillance, individualized clinical advice or account impersonation. Fictional examples and the original Dating Safety Plan are educational aids, not tested safety protocols. No dating venue, app or identity-check method guarantees safety. US support examples are labeled; learners elsewhere must verify their own emergency, reporting and support routes. A support hotline does not replace required reporting.
