About this course

Use the pickup and transition period to clarify the present situation and adapt the next step with the person.

Designed for recreational therapists and community-based support professionals. Adapt examples to your actual role, preparation, and setting.

What you will learn

  • Keep the person-defined outcome in view while clarifying a current preference or changed need.
  • Separate a supporter’s report, your observation, the person’s communication, and your interpretation.
  • Use the Aim–Now–Next Pickup Check to select a wanted, role-appropriate next action.

Put the learning to work

Practice a brief pickup check and compare a goal-preserving adaptation with simply completing the original plan. Review tools before travel or while safely stopped.

Course format and time

7 short captioned video lessons, complementary reading, on-page practice, a ten-question knowledge check, and an optional course evaluation. Plan about 60 minutes for the full learning experience, including practice and the quiz. This is a planning estimate; completion time varies.

All practice is on the lesson pages. You may keep your own notes using fictional or general examples without identifying client information.
