Read Waiting and Transitions
Distinguish restorative rest, passive waiting, supported practice, and concerning withdrawal without rushing to assumptions.
Support Choice and Communication
Use open choice, single choice, paired choice, limited choices, and fewer-word prompts when communication gets harder in the moment.
Practice Real Community Moments
Apply practical support decisions to fictional scenarios such as a carnival ride wait, summer camp transitions, and re-entry after a pause.
About the course
Waiting and transitions are easy to treat as empty time. In real community support, those moments can show whether the person has enough information, enough choice, enough communication access, and a respectful path back into participation. This one-hour course helps learners slow down and read the moment before adding more prompts. Learners practice practical strategies for lines, late starts, camp transitions, crowded lobbies, transportation delays, re-entry after a difficult moment, and other fictional community scenarios.
